The hike on May 19th was very interesting and wet! It began to rain a bit while we gathered in the parking lot but rather than abating it just rained harder. By the time we reached the trail head parking there were several people having second, and third, thoughts about the hike but we pressed ahead.
We had a visitor from Montreal join us for the hike. She was visiting for a few days and found about the hike. Everyone was glad that she came along and we hope she enjoyed herself.
Photos from this hike and the last time we did the hike, in 2005, are at here so check them out. Maps are in the album so you can tell the altitude changes and approximate times.
This was the 4th time we've done this hike, or versions of it. In all it was 7.71 miles and we arrived back at the car by 3:30. Along the way we were treated to many Dogwood trees in full bloom. We made the side trips to the lake, had lunch on the bluffs and marveled at the waterfall. In all, a great hike. Not the easiest, but certainly not hard. The best views of the falls were seen by going down a rope and a few people did that. Unfortunately the weather was not very nice and we were all very damp. However, everyone seemed to think the effort and discomfort was worthwhile.
