It has been a while since there have been new stories on the site about out latest hikes but the photo gallery has been updated. There were several great hikes in the late summer and early fall with some wonderful photo opportunities.
However it is now the new year and everyone seems to be anxious to get back on the trails. Those of you on the email list will be notified of any planned hikes and everyone else will just have to check back occasionally to see if I've managed to update the site!
Update - it has been suggested that we do the new Angler's Trail along the Stamp River. We hiked the trail in April of this year before it was finished and all agree that it was a great new addition to the hiking trails around Port Alberni. It starts at the Stamp Falls Park and ends near Money's Pool. Cars will be staged at both ends so we don't have an extra long hike!. There is a new bridge so crossing the worst of the streams will be far easier than in the spring but you will still need good hiking boots, appropriate clothing (probably rain gear), and a lunch. We encourage hiking sticks/poles as some of the trail can be slippery at this time of the year.
Photos of the spring hike are at: Angler's Trail Photos
